SAIT and Lufthansa Technik Canada are fueling Alberta’s aviation future
Following the announcement of the newcomer to Canada’s aviation sector in early 2025, SAIT and LTCA signed on the dotted line of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to solidify a collaborative commitment to elevate the industry. Together, we’re ready to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving industry and elevate Alberta’s position as a global aviation hub.
“This partnership underscores SAIT’s commitment to providing world-class education and advancing Alberta’s economy,” says Lynda Holden, Dean, School of Transportation. “Students will gain hands-on experience and connect directly with an industry leader in the Canadian market — it’s an exciting opportunity for Alberta’s aviation talent.”
This collaboration is more than just a new program. It represents a transformative opportunity for Alberta to lead in workforce development and innovation in the aviation industry. By combining our excellence in applied education with Lufthansa’s global reputation for technical mastery, we’ll establish a direct pipeline of highly skilled, career-ready professionals to meet the sector’s growing demands.

Technology is who we are — it’s what we do. Officially known as the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), we’re a community of thinkers, creators and champions leading change and reimagining the workforce of tomorrow.
In 1916, our doors opened in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with 11 students and a mandate to train veterans returning from the First World War. Over the years, we’ve matched community needs — as a hospital during the Spanish Flu pandemic and as a Royal Canadian Air Force Wireless Training School during the Second World War.
Fast forward to today and SAIT’s action-based learning, solution-focused research and industry partnerships are helping to shape the next generation of inventors, entrepreneurs and pioneers.
- We equip students with essential skills for career success in industry. 91% of our grads get hired and 97% recommend a SAIT education.
- Whether looking to upskill or change careers, we enable lifetime learning through relevant, customized education.
- We enhance the global competitiveness of our students and region.
- With more than 11,000 industry partners, we blur the lines between industry and SAIT to strengthen the economy.
