About
Founded by Charlie and Collie Hutter in 1987, Click Bond is rooted in the spirit of invention. The company itself is a subsidiary of Physical Systems, the industrial research and development firm started in 1969 by brothers Charlie and Peter Hutter. As the son of an orthopedic surgeon who pioneered the use of bone cements to install prosthetics, Charlie knew that these capable adhesives could cure inside the human body in the presence of oils. When Charlie
later encountered the challenge of leaking fuel tank rivets on his personal aircraft, this knowledge inspired a solution. What if he could bond a thin aluminum patch over the leak using this adhesive? His idea incorporated a fixturing feature that accurately positioned the patch over the leak and, when activated with a signature “click,”
clamped the patch to the wing, facilitating a strong and reliable bond.
Thus, the “Click Patch” launched the Click Bond product line and stimulated further development, leading to dozens of global patents and hundreds of products. This established Click Bond as the pioneer and leader in adhesive-bonded assembly solutions, which support high-performance products across transportation, energy,
and industrial sectors.
At the heart of every Click Bond success lies our competitive advantage: human ingenuity. We cultivate broad and genuine relationships with our customers to ensure that we understand their technical challenges and business priorities. We foster an environment in which our team members are encouraged to experiment and invent, generating ideas that anticipate and answer those needs. And, in the spirit of our founders, we integrate and
connect our broad knowledge and capabilities in unique ways, challenging the status quo to deliver novel solutions to the world’s emerging design, manufacturing, and product support challenges.
