TannerMAP: Managed Access Programs
Tanner Pharma Group
Expanded Access Programs (EAPs) are a pathway created and regulated by the US FDA that allows biopharmaceutical companies to provide investigational new drugs (INDs) to patients with serious diseases or conditions who have exhausted approved therapy and cannot participate in a clinical trial. The FDA has defined specific criteria that determine which part of its program is most appropriate for the medicine in development. Whether a medication is requested ad hoc for single patients or for a group of patients, Tanner offers a full range of services to support the design, implementation and execution of Expanded Access Programs in the US.
Some patients may not qualify to participate in a clinical trial due to the inclusion and exclusion criteria in the protocol. Likewise, patients may not be able to participate in a trial because of geographic proximity to a trial site or because a trial is not being conducted in the patient's country. Pharmaceutical companies often receive requests from physicians or patients wanting access to the investigational medicine. There are established regulatory pathways in most countries to supply these patients and Tanner can help.

TannerGAP: Global Access Programs
Tanner Pharma Group
Expanding access across borders is what we do. International inquiries are our expertise, and our network of direct relationships with pharmaceutical companies allows us addresses these needs seamlessly and efficiently. Named Patient Programs are the primary mechanism we leverage to provide global access. Whether requests come from tenders as a result of drug shortages or for other reasons, we help provide access to products that are unlicensed or unregistered in the country where the patient is located. We always confirm the validity of the request and ensure the secure delivery of the product to the intended patient.
Depending on the country, it can take months or years before the medicine is commercially available. Similarly, a company may choose not to commercialize the medicine in some coutnries for various reasons. In most countries, there is an established named patient supply process for fulfilling the demand if the medicine is not commercially available. Tanner works with pharmaceutical companies to manage all requests for such medicines and satisfy the demand until they are commercially available in the market.
Medication manufacturing and distribution is highly complex; the global supply chain affects every piece from manufacturing inputs to delivery of the finished product. Disruptions in the supply chain are inevitable, and the consequences can put patients’ treatment at risk. Fortunately, such disruptions normally only impact a subset of markets, and the medicine remains available in other markets. In such situations, it is often possible to supply medicines temporarily from one country into another country via established regulatory pathways until the registered product is available again. Tanner Pharma works with pharmaceutical companies to set up the infrastructure to respond to supply chain disruptions and mitigate the impact on patient access to their medicines.
