Customer: Noble Drilling Corporation in Sugar Land, Texas, USA, is a global leader in oil-drilling technologies. Challenge: Prevent cold-welding, galling and failure of stainless steel threaded connections tightened to extremely high torque levels.
Solution: Replace a traditional anti-seize paste — which was being squeezed out of the high-torque connections and causing thread failures — with an ultrapure, metal-free and more durable solid-film lubricant.

MOLYKOTE® Pastes can be classified into three categories: general lubrication pastes, assembly pastes and thread pastes. MOLYKOTE® brand Specialty Lubricants can help your threaded connections perform well in service, from initial assembly through repeated disassemblies. MOLYKOTE® Pastes are specially formulated to withstand harsh conditions; to perform at a wide range of service temperatures; and to resist the effects of heavy loads, salt spray or other contaminants. Pastes are designed to be a long-term solution: High loadings of solid lubricants ensure solids will remain in place, even under extreme conditions such as high temperatures or heavy loads. MOLYKOTE® Pastes can be divided into three general categories: assembly pastes, general lubrication pastes and threaded connection pastes. Some pastes fit well into more than one category. The MOLYKOTE® technical support team can assist you in choosing the best paste for your specific application and technical requirements.

Vespel® shapes provide outstanding design flexibility combined with a unique combination of the physical properties common among engineered plastics, metals and ceramics.
Vespel® shapes offer: • Proven performance when used continuously in air up to 300 °C (572 °F) and for short excursions to as high as 500 °C (932 °F). • Low wear and friction at high pressures and velocities (lubricated or unlubricated) • Outstanding creep resistance • Strength and impact resistance • Exceptional chemical resistance • Excellent machinability
