About
Created in 1974, CFM International (CFM) is a 50/50 joint company between GE and Safran Aircraft Engines and the world’s leading supplier of commercial transport aircraft engines and the best example of a successful international joint venture in aviation.
Since the first engine was delivered in 1982, CFM has delivered more than 40,000 engines to 600+ operators worldwide.
CFM currently produces the advanced LEAP engine family to power the Airbus A320neo, the Boeing 737 MAX, and the COMAC C919.
Since the first LEAP engines entered revenue service in August 2016, the fleet has demonstrated world-class daily utilization rates while delivering up to 20 percent improvement in fuel efficiency, along with significant reductions in noise and emissions signatures. To date, the fleet has logged a total of more than 20 million engine flight hours.
GE and Safran Aircraft Engines recently signed an agreement extending the CFM 50/50 partnership to the year 2050, declaring their intent to lead the way for more sustainable aviation in line with the industry’s commitment to halve CO2 emissions by 2050. At the same time, the companies launched the CFM RISE (Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines) * Technology Demonstration Program that embodies CFM’s mission to push the limits of innovation to develop, demonstrate, and bring to market breakthrough technologies that will help advance the industry and protect the planet.
