The Bahrain Space Agency (BSA) was established by Royal Decree, in line with His Majesty’s vision: “To promote Bahrain to a position of international prominence in the field of space science for the purpose of achieving comprehensive and sustainable development.”
BSA focuses on harnessing space technologies for national development, promoting space science and applications, developing advanced space research programs, ensuring capacity building, and creating a new space sector in the Kingdom.
BSA is working closely with ministries in the Kingdom, identifying their needs, and planning to provide enhanced space-based technology services for governance and development. It is also working with universities on exciting potential new space missions to advance research and development in space sciences.
BSA Goals:
1. Developing national cadres to create a national workforce with pioneering and distinguished space science, technologies, and applications capabilities.
2. Constructing a sound infrastructure for the national space sector to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development and obtaining a leading position for the Kingdom.
3. Encouraging, supporting, and developing scientific research programs to promote innovation in the technologies and applications related to space science.
4. Providing satellite data and analytical studies that serve various vital verticals across the economy and contribute to the comprehensive and sustainable development of the Kingdom.
5. Establishing relationships of cooperation on regional and international joint projects with space agencies and technical, industrial and research organizations actively engaged in space science.
6. Contribute to supporting a sustainable national economy through space activities.
7. Approving the principles that regulate the Kingdom’s activities in the field of space in accordance with international treaties, agreements and norms and achieving public benefit.
