About
DKK Co., Ltd. was founded in 1950, building on the legacy of its predecessor, Japan Wireless Telegraph Co., Ltd. (JWT), established in 1925. DKK owned and maintained the Yosami Transmitting Station, Japan’s sole very low frequency (VLF) antenna facility, which was installed by JWT in 1929 and later provided to the U.S. Navy after World War II. DKK managed its maintenance until operations ceased in 1994. Additionally, DKK designed and installed the only VLF equipment for the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, which began operation in 1993, and has been responsible for its regular maintenance ever since.
Our VLF equipment is vital for underwater communication with submarines, providing the most effective and practical means of transmitting commands and information directly to submerged vessels. By eliminating the need for submarines to surface or expose antennas above the sea, VLF technology significantly enhances stealth—a fundamental characteristic of submarine operations. This capability is especially critical for next-generation diesel-electric submarines, which are expected to achieve drastically extended underwater endurance. As a result, VLF equipment is not only essential for the operational effectiveness of future submarines but also holds strategic importance for naval operations and maritime defense.
DKK offers a range of communication equipment for both ground and air forces. For ground forces, the company provides equipment tailored for military vehicles, including antennas for radio communication, ensuring reliable communication in various operational environments, especially for mobile and vehicular communication systems. For air forces, DKK specializes in long-range antennas and shortwave communication equipment, designed to support high-performance, long-distance communication during aerial operations, ensuring effective and reliable communication in complex air missions.
DKK, since its establishment, has focused on design, construction, and renovation of telecommunications and broadcasting facilities while enhancing its technology and investing in equipment. Besides product for the defense force, DKK has steadily expanded its business related to telecommunications equipment such as various kinds of antennas, steel towers, flat-panel reflectors used for Microwave communications, transmission equipment shelters, extendable poles, and other products.
Moreover, DKK advanced into the manufacture of hardening machine and applied high-frequency equipment as well as contract hardening services, both using High-Frequency Energy, as a part of business expansion. DKK has acquired a great deal of experience and track record in this business area, aggressively expanding into foreign markets.
Since its establishment, the achievements of DKK have been widely recognized for its highly professional services in the fields of defense-related business, telecommunications and High-frequency equipment for the commercial sector.
