About
Amphibious ARKTOS Craft is an articulated, very robust and stable Craft, with fire-retardant, ice-strengthened, insulated hulls.
The unparalleled capability of climbing from deep water up onto ice, transiting steep slopes and vertical steps (multiyear ice-floes, rough shorelines), to operate in deep mud, muskeg, quicksand, uneven ground and variable water depths without getting stuck sets this technology apart from any other standard equipment, allowing access into areas otherwise inaccessible while having additional protection from the harsh environment, including from polar bears, as personnel are safe inside the Craft.
Additional safety features and redundancy are built into the design of the Craft for Arctic and Antarctic operations, as well as the ability to tow amphibiously, in water/ice conditions such as barges (for extra cargo carrying, platform for unmanned systems etc.), life rafts, disabled boats, oil boom and more, and can operate in operate in rough seas, also sets this technology apart.
ARKTOS Craft enhances operations in the Arctic and Antarctic in all ice conditions for duties as shore to ship, ship to shore and ship to ship in ice conditions, logistical support at ports, surveillance/investigations, search and rescue, scientific research, mapping/charting, community support, ice management, and other applications.
Climate Change is causing an increase in intensity and frequency of disaster related events worldwide. ARKTOS Craft can operate in -50C to +50C, able to support responders in disasters such as flooding, hurricanes and earthquakes as they can maneuver through debris cluttered waters/shorelines and unknown debris under the water to rescue/recover, deliver supplies, (food, water, medical supplies, tools) to the shore and beyond when infrastructure has been damaged. Towing amphibiously is a significant benefit for this application.
Oil Spill Response in tidal zones (deep mud, uneven ground), rivers, and rough coastlines, as well as preventative monitoring of pipelines in difficult amphibious conditions is another important role ARKTOS Craft can support due to their unique design.
Various sizes of ARKTOS Craft have been sold globally, (US Beaufort Sea (Arctic), China, North Caspian Sea (Kazakhstan), Saudi Arabia and Canada. There are two production models available:
- 32 tonne ARKTOS Craft (USCG Approved)
- 45 tonne ARKTOS Craft (Transport Canada Approved).
In development is a smaller Craft with targeted design to be deployable by a 20-tonne Crane or Davit, air lift-able by a Chinook Helicopter (1/2 of Craft per lift) and C-130J transportable, useful for military, coast guards, disaster response agencies, and industry.
