About
With the advent of the era of technological hegemony competition, paradigm shifts in existing industries are becoming a necessity rather than an option in modern society. The materials sector, which is required to create new markets along with manufacturing innovation, is doing its best to discover key new technologies that will lead the 4th industrial revolution. The demand for technology in the materials sector also leads to cost reductions throughout the manufacturing process and the creation of new business opportunities, so we should quickly move ahead in areas that help people’s daily lives through convergence and cooperation with various industries.
Compared to expectations of active economic activity in the post-COVID-19 era, the current global economy is in a downward trend. In particular, it is no exaggeration to say that our country is caught up in various crises, from the industrial economic crisis to the low birth rate crisis. In order to overcome this crisis and make a comeback in the main manufacturing industry, material independence is essential, and we must demonstrate our technological prowess to create an opportunity to stand up once again.
The Korea Institute of Materials Science has set itself the vision and goal of becoming a 'material powerhouse'. The development of advanced material source technology and the domestic production of materials are tasks and goals that we must achieve. We will do our best to help our country rise as a true 'material powerhouse' based on the central role of concentrating domestic materials research capabilities and industry-academia-research cooperation. It is no exaggeration to say that our future depends on the technological prowess of advanced materials, so the Korea Institute of Materials Science promises to continue to devote itself to research activities and to continue to make efforts so that the results can lead to improved quality of life for the people.
