About
It started in the 90s when several senior Indonesian Helicopter Pilots were involved in organizational activities at the Indonesian Pilots Association (API). Where API is a professional organization of Pilots consisting of Fixed Wing (Aeroplane) and Rotary Wing (Helicopter) pilots. Then a few years later API changed its name to PERSEPSI (Indonesian Civil Aviation Association).
From PERSEPSI it changed again to the Indonesian Pilot Federation. From an organizational format consisting of individuals, it changed to a Federation organizational format consisting of Associations.
At that time, Indonesian Civil Helicopter Pilots were still not in one organizational unit, but were still scattered under organizations in the form of Forums, Unions, Associations or Associations within their respective Company environments.
Although at that time only a handful of Helicopter Pilots were active in organizational activities through the Federation, they continued to actively and continuously fight for and build the Helicopter profession by providing constructive input and suggestions to the Government, together with other Fixed Wing Pilots, through the Indonesian Pilot Federation.
Several things that have been fought for by Senior Indonesian Helicopter Pilots together with the Indonesian Pilot Federation at that time, including fighting for changes to the maximum fight time per day which used to be 9 (Nine Hours), proposed to be reduced to 7 (seven) hours, for dual pilots. 6 (six) hours for single pilots, and 5 (five) hours for Sling/External Load flight operations, or 30 (thirty) take off landings, whichever comes first, which is still in effect today.
In 1998, the Government issued SKM (Ministerial Decree) Number 12 of 1998, concerning the Indonesian Pilot Federation. Where through the Decree all Pilot professional organizations are to be under the auspices of one Indonesian Pilot Federation. Through this Decree, the Government also stated that the Federation is the only Pilot Organization recognized by the Government as a partner.
The Decree is a manifestation of the Government's appreciation for the Professional Association by declaring it as a partner, and it is only natural that it is responded to and responded to positively.
In 2001, the Senior Helicopter Pilots of Indonesia, together with the Fixed Wing pilots through the Indonesian Pilot Federation, successfully completed the creation of the Standard Competency for Aeroplane Pilots and the Standard Competency for Helicopter Pilots.
The purpose of creating this Standard Competency is so that in the future, both Fixed Wing Pilots and Rotary Wing Pilots have a national standard competency reference in conducting Pilot education and training.
After a long journey, finally on January 31, 2011, at Citos, South Jakarta, based on the responsibility for high professionalism and the desire to be able to contribute and participate in National development, especially aerospace development, the Indonesian Civil Helicopter Pilots formed a professional organization, called the Indonesian Helicopter Pilots Association (APHI).
To further strengthen and establish the existence of the Organization, the Helicopter Pilots at that time agreed to join and be under the auspices of the Indonesian Pilot Federation. This was done to answer and respond to the mandate conveyed by the Government through Ministerial Decree Number 12 of 1998 concerning the Indonesian Pilot Federation, that the Indonesian Civil Pilot Associations should be under the auspices of and join under the Indonesian Pilot Federation. In addition, Indonesian Helicopter Pilots see the SKM as an acknowledgement of the Government's appreciation for the Pilot profession by stating the partner's statement in the Decree, so it is only natural that the statement is welcomed and responded to positively.
APHI consists of Indonesian Civil Helicopter Pilots, both those who are still active and those who have entered retirement. APHI's vision is to be able to form a professional organization consisting of professionals in their fields who are able to compete globally, both in terms of skill, knowledge and experience. Especially in today's era, where there are no more borders between countries, all become one, interact, compete professionally.
Civil Helicopter Aviation is an integral and inseparable part of National aviation, especially when associated with aviation safety. There are five elements that form the aviation industry. Namely manufacture, operator, regulator/government, user/customer and professional, where professionals are accommodated through a professional organization or Association. Without one of these elements, the aviation industry would not be possible. To form a healthy aviation industry, it is expected that all elements must be able to contribute and play a role in a sustainable and balanced manner.
Through this professional organization, APHI is expected to be able to speak a lot, conveying aspirations, ideas and professional thoughts to be used as part of the development of the National aviation industry.
