Hojong's investigative domains comprise the assessment of airport and airspace capacity, by means of simulation, optimization, data science, and artificial intelligence approaches. He has been employed as a professor at Korea Aerospace University (KAU) since the year 2010. Before his appointment at KAU, Hojong held a teaching position as an assistant professor at MS&T (Missouri University of Science and Technology), which was formerly known as UMR (University of Missouri, Rolla).

Since its founding in 1952, Korea Aerospace University (KAU) has been fully dedicated to fostering future experts and professionals to support the aerospace industry in South Korea.
