The semiconductor industry currently faces significant challenges amidst rapidly changing technological innovations and complex global dynamics. Advances in AI technology are creating new opportunities across the semiconductor industry, but they are also disrupting existing paradigms.
Major countries, including the United States, are strategically fostering the semiconductor industry and engaging in fierce competition. China is also accelerating domestic production and expanding its influence. Furthermore, we face numerous challenges, including labor shortages, supply chain restructuring, and trade risks.
However, even amidst numerous crises, we have always created new opportunities. Now, once again, it is time to join forces for the growth of the industry. The association will further strengthen communication with its members to enable rapid response to the changing environment and further solidify the domestic semiconductor ecosystem.
For the semiconductor industry to continue to grow, close collaboration across all areas, from R&D to production, is essential. To achieve this, the association will strive to successfully establish a semiconductor cluster and enhance the competitiveness of all sectors, from materials, components, and equipment companies to fabless, foundry, packaging, and system semiconductors.
The association will foster an environment where companies ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to large corporations can collaborate organically and actively expand R&D support for next-generation semiconductor technologies. To accelerate innovation in the semiconductor sector, we will further strengthen the R&D-centered industrial support system and provide practical assistance to companies in securing technological competitiveness.
We will also work closely with the government to strengthen the competitiveness of the semiconductor industry, including through the Special Act on Semiconductors, and to ensure that our industry can grow in a more favorable environment.
Developing talent for the future is also crucial. To ensure a continuous supply of specialized personnel, the backbone of the industry, we will expand customized training programs and proactively cultivate the key talent companies need. Through these efforts, we will support the semiconductor industry's continued innovation and further enhance its global competitiveness.
Competition in the semiconductor industry can no longer be overcome by individual companies alone. We must work together as a team.
The Association will play a central role in driving sustainable growth in the industry. We look forward to working with our members to create a new leap forward for the Korean semiconductor industry, and we ask for your continued interest and support.
