About
LRAD is the long-range communication and escalation of force (EOF) system of choice for defense forces around the world. Today's military forces are required to support the full spectrum of missions. From combat and counterinsurgency to disaster response and humanitarian assistance. Regardless of the assigned mission, clear communication and scalable EOF are critical to mission success. From close range to 3,500 meters, LRAD systems broadcast audible, attention-commanding voice messages and warning tones with exceptional clarity to communicate and safely initiate and scale EOF.
In response to the to the deadly October 2000 attack on the USS Cole, Genasys created the acoustic hailing device (AHD) market by developing and launching its proprietary LRAD technology and systems. Genasys’ proprietary driver and waveguide technology eliminates the shortcomings of other audible voice broadcast systems by maintaining a smooth frequency response with an intensity variation of less than 5dB, which prevents audio fading and produces clear, unambiguous communication across all broadcast frequencies. LRAD is unique in its ability to broadcast either live or recorded voice messages in any language with exceptional intelligibility and tonal clarity
Broadcasting highly intelligible voice messages and warning tones that are clearly heard and understood above wind, engine and background noise, LRAD systems enable defense forces to enlarge standoff zones and security perimeters beyond 3,000 meters, enabling military personnel more time and distance to determine intent, assess threat situations, and initiate and scale EOF commensurate to approaching threats. LRAD's EOF is safe, highly effective and non-kinetic.
Portable, rapidly deployable or permanently mounted, LRAD systems hail and warn, establish large standoff zones, determine intent, initiate and scale EOF, and save lives on both sides of the Long Range Acoustic Devices. From the low-profile LRAD 450XL to the remotely operated LRAD 950NXT integrated with radar, HD cameras, high powered spotlights, and sensors, LRAD systems are rugged, reliable and built to withstand the harshest environmental conditions. LRAD is the most thoroughly tested AHD available having successfully passed approximately 40 separate U.S government tests including all MILSPEC testing for heat, humidity and shock.
