Clarius Receives CE Mark Certification for its Dual-Array Wireless Handheld Scanner for Whole-Body Ultrasound Imaging
Clarius Mobile Health
Vancouver, BC, January 17, 2024 – Clarius Mobile Health, a global leader in wireless ultrasound solutions, has received CE Mark for its revolutionary Clarius PAL HD3 wireless handheld whole-body ultrasound scanner combining phased and linear arrays on a single head. It offers superior image quality of superficial and deep anatomy at the bedside 1. The Clarius PAL HD3 high-definition wireless scanner is available today in Europe for 5,240 plus 580 EUR annual membership and the United Kingdom for 4,565 plus 505 GBP membership.
“You can probably do 95 to 99% of all the ultrasound imaging you need to do during a shift with this single device,” says Dr. Tom Cook who practices at a busy urban hospital. “If you compare the cost of this device to a cart-based system, you're talking a factor of 10 to 15, maybe even 20, depending on the type of system you're using. So, it's very, very inexpensive.”
Clarius is as compact as an iPhone and works seamlessly with iOS or Android devices, ensuring easy mobility from patient to patient. Clarius PAL HD3 is the only whole-body handheld scanner to deliver high-resolution images from the skin down to 40 cm of depth. Healthcare professionals can perform whole-body ultrasound exams without the need to swap devices or transport bulky systems between rooms. Clarius PAL HD3 is the 11th wireless handheld ultrasound scanner in the Clarius specialty ultrasound lineup.
"Our unique dual-array design was driven by our objective to deliver a portable whole-body ultrasound device that produces superior imaging quality, performance, and usability than what was currently available for clinicians,” says Kris Dickie, Chief Technology Officer at Clarius who led the project from ideation to commercialization. “Given the sales volume of the Clarius PAL since we introduced it in the United States late last year, we’re happy to confirm there’s definitely a strong market for a single, versatile device that supports multiple exams and broad clinical applications for hospital physicians.”
Clarius ultrasound scanners are proven to deliver superior image quality.1 Clarius uses the same advanced 8 beamformer processing technology used by higher-end traditional systems. This delivers up to 8 times the speed and performance of other handhelds for clear and detailed imaging to guide safe procedures and support precise and rapid assessments of patients at the bedside.
To learn more about Clarius PAL HD3, watch this video with three emergency medicine physicians.

About Clarius Mobile Health

Progenacare and Phaseone deliver $3 million in one-of-a-kind wound care supplies and medical training, bringing hope to over a dozen Ukrainian hospitals
ProgenaCare
John Daniel, Co-founder of ProgenaCare Global, and Kristopher Perkins,
Managing Director of PhaseOne Health, have been an on-the-ground mission in Ukraine that saw
the two leaders deliver close to $3 million of ProgenaMatrix™, an innovative, one-of-a-kind keratinmatrix wound care, along with PhaseOne, a cleaning and disinfecting solution.
The trip was coordinated over several weeks, using a humanitarian pipeline established by HelpingUkraine.us, the Tucker, Ga.-based charitable organization established in June of 2022. That pipeline includes doctors in hospitals across Ukraine, where Daniel and Perkins spent six days visiting. They saw over a dozen medical facilities, met with doctors and medical professionals to train them on the use of their unique healing products and stopped by to visit and treat patients, a welcome surprise for many injured soldiers.
“We were also asked to visit with patients we weren’t treating, because it meant a lot to them. Seeing us there was symbolic and relayed: ‘The U.S. is here for you and supports you,’” said Daniel about seeing patients light up with hope upon seeing him and Perkins. “You could see their eyes smiling which is hard to imagine considering they are suffering from PTSD from an environment that shows the hostile nature of humans. That’s why we went; to show halfway across the world, people like us care and want to do something to help and treat soldiers and civilians.”
The triumvirate partnership was born from the root commitment ProgenaCare and PhaseOne Health share to reduce human suffering, which aligned with HelpingUkraine.us mission to save lives. Daniel and Perkins said they followed a calling, knowing their products would work well for both chronic and acute wounds and, in tandem, could deliver quicker healing results for patients.
Their visits began with classroom trainings, where the gentlemen would walk expert surgeons through proper storage, use and application. At the conclusion of these sessions, Daniel and Perkins bestowed certifications to each surgeon, attesting they had mastered the application and nuances of their products.
ProgenaMatrix™ and PhaseOne were used in collaboration on several patients, including injured soldiers with severe battlefield wounds and burns. Progress on the treatment and healing is being monitored by physicians in Ukraine and will be shared with teams back in the U.S., marking a concerted investment in the products to heal battle injuries.
“The physicians had never seen a product like ProgenaMatrix™ or PhaseOne,” said Perkins. “What struck them was the simplicity of the materials. All the doctors we met showed the highest levels of professionalism, loyalty, expertise and patriotism. The quality of care is terrific, but inadequate.” Bert Jones, Chairman of the Board of ProgenaCare Global added, “To date, our products have only been used in peacetime. We are honored to have the opportunity to help these wonderful physicians heal the victims of this historic tragedy.”
The trip was marked by a pervasive sense that everyone around them had been severely impacted by the war and personally knew someone who had been injured or killed. The team’s presence brought a somber reminder that despite the victimization of the Ukrainian people, the good in humanity is still alive.
Bombing sirens and app notifications served as brief glimpses into what has become a new daily reality for millions. For some, seeing Daniel and Perkins personified a Western diplomacy that has helped carry Ukraine through the war. ProgenaCare and PhaseOne are currently exploring other projects to provide support for the Ukrainian cause.

AirSep PSA Medical Oxygen System to Deliver Urgently Needed Oxygen in Mozambique
AirSep Corporation
AirSep partnered with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Mozambican Government to activate this project designed to provide desperately needed medical oxygen in this Southeastern African country. The Monapo Hospital in the town of the same name in northern Mozambique now can produce enough oxygen to treat 25 COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms while treating up to 150 patients with milder oxygen needs.
The AirSep PSA Oxygen System generates medical-grade oxygen on-site and uses compressed air as a feed gas to produce oxygen. The oxygen system uses an inert ceramic material called molecular sieve in its adsorber vessels to separate air into product oxygen and other gases. The entire oxygen generating process is completely regenerative, which makes it both reliable and virtually maintenance-free.
This AS-J600-HMFM PSA Oxygen System is containerized to accommodate for the remote area. It also is designed to continuously supply oxygen and has cylinder refilling capability. Cylinders can be filled with high-pressure oxygen at the designated concentration, and those can be distributed to nearby medical facilities.

Oxygen equipment pioneer AirSep, a division of CAIRE Inc., at the forefront in the global fight against COVID-19
AirSep Corporation
Self-contained PSA oxygen generators, like AirSep’s Reliant and Centrox products, 220 V versions available for export only, are used primarily for medical oxygen supply. Larger than a traditional stationary oxygen concentrator, an AirSep oxygen generator can deliver higher pressure, 50 pound per square inch gage (PSIG) or higher.
Recently medical clinics have set up ventilators to help support breathing in patients whose lungs have been seriously impacted by the COVID-19 virus. Many patients are experiencing shortness of breath and difficulty breathing due to the virus infecting the respiratory tract and damaging the lung’s alveoli, which is where oxygen enters the blood and carbon dioxide passes.
To alleviate these harsh symptoms, Reliant and Centrox oxygen generators can connect directly to the ventilator and together these technologies supply oxygen to the patient allowing more time for their lungs to recover and regain function.

Valencell Unveils Valencell Health™ and the Fingertip™ Blood Pressure Monitor The Calibration-Free, Cuffless BPM Solution Targeting Over-the-Counter Use
Valencell, Inc.
Raleigh, North Carolina, USA & Arab Health, Dubai, UAE – January 2024 – Valencell, the company whose optical heart rate technology enabled the ability of wearables to accurately measure cardiovascular vitals during exercise, today announced plans to launch its own branded product line in the digital health sector under the name Valencell Health™ as it concentrates efforts to bring solutions to market to manage chronic diseases. The company’s first product candidate is the Fingertip™ Blood Pressure Monitor, focused on helping people spot-check measure BP and manage hypertension by combining an intuitive app with an innovative over-the-counter device to accurately measure blood pressure (BP) from the finger without a cuff or calibration.
Founded in 2006 with a vision to help people live longer, healthier lives, Valencell’s proven inventions, sensor technology, and algorithms can be found in tens of millions of wearable and hearable devices, in over 90 products, for companies such as Samsung, Suunto, Bose, Jabra, Huawei, and Sony. While Valencell was established as a technology provider in consumer sports and fitness wearables, its foundational technology has the potential to realize the dream of seamless chronic disease management through easy-to-use, high-compliance digital health solutions.
The launch of the Valencell Health Fingertip™ BPM device will further the company’s vision of bringing life-changing digital health solutions to consumers and is a strategic evolution for the company. Having developed solutions for some of the world’s leading wearable companies, Valencell is now driven to bring its own portfolio of digital therapeutics to market. Powered by its patented biometric sensor technology, over 150 patents, proprietary AI models, and analytics that have been clinically validated using thousands of datasets over many years, it begins with a focus on hypertension.
“Having spent seventeen years perfecting the ability to capture health data from multiple areas of the body and developing solutions for third parties, I am excited for Valencell to embark on a new chapter,” said Dr. Steven LeBoeuf, President, and Co-Founder of Valencell. “Beginning with the number one silent killer, hypertension, Valencell is developing digital health solutions that take out all the friction and barriers to capturing and acting on health data to help make it easier for people to take control over their health, live longer, healthier, and more productive lives.”
Meeting Demands Under Pressure
Valencell’s first chronic disease management solution aims to help those with hypertension better and more regularly measure blood pressure and adhere to treatment.
The device has been engineered to measure blood pressure in less than a minute using a small probe on the middle finger without the need for bulky or painful cuffs. Photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors within the device use reflected light to measure blood flow patterns. Proprietary AI algorithms, developed from more than 20,000 PPG datasets comprising more than 10,000 patients, are used to process this information with physical characteristics (age, weight, height and biological sex) to calculate a blood pressure measurement. Diastolic and systolic results are then displayed on the device’s built-in screen and transmitted via Bluetooth® to the app.
Unlike other technologies, the Fingertip™ Blood Pressure Monitor does not need to be calibrated to a BP cuff, a capability that has so far eluded the industry. Valencell’s solution is expected to be the world’s first over-the-counter, cuffless and truly calibration-free blood pressure monitor in a fingertip form factor, with the company targeting FDA Clearance in late 2024. Altogether, this has the potential to enable the world’s first OTC cuffless BP monitoring solution.
Although the device has been designed as a stand-alone blood pressure monitor, it has the potential to become a powerful tool to help manage hypertension when paired with its connected app. The easy-to-use mobile app has been designed to track and store readings and allow users to set reminders to take their blood pressure. Users will also have the ability to view trends over time, track the frequency of their measurements, and download and share data.
The Heart of The Problem
Globally, more than a billion people suffer from hypertension, and it accounts for approx. ten million deaths per year, yet often hypertension has little or no symptoms and is difficult to manage on an ongoing basis. Critical to managing hypertension and saving lives are regular and reliable BP measurements. In a study of consumers that monitored BP at home, 80% of respondents stated they would increase the frequency of measurements using a fingertip device .
“The ability to accurately measure blood pressure is essential in ensuring those with cardiovascular conditions adhere to treatments and lifestyle changes their physicians recommend. Anything that makes this easier for people to do can save lives, dollars, and time,” commented Dr. Bill Kraus, Professor of Medicine, Duke University of Medicine. “The rise of digital health solutions and coaching apps are a welcomed trend but are only as good as the data that goes into them. Using the Valencell device that is as simple and painless as pulse oximeters could improve treatment adherence and outcomes and would be a welcomed solution to a largely unmet clinical need.”
Future of Digital Therapeutics
With new algorithms, form factors, and clinical data, blood flow patterns have the potential to measure health statistics ranging from respiratory rates, oxygen levels, cardiac efficiency, and blood pressure. The ability to place these capabilities into ubiquitous, everyday objects that are so intuitive they make it easy for consumers to manage their own health brings the promise of genuinely personal, preventative medicine close to reality.
