M109A7
BAE Systems
The M109A7 is the latest howitzer in the BAE Systems M109 family of vehicles, the primary indirect fire support system for the ABCTs. It uses the existing main armament and cab structure of a Paladin M109A6, and replaces the vehicle’s chassis components with modem components common to the Bradley vehicle. The improved chassis structure provides greater survivability and commonality with the existing systems in the ABCT, reducing operational sustainability costs by replacing obsolete components.
The M109A7 is supported by the Army as a vital technology enhancement program to maintain the combat capability of its ABCTs. The M109A7 will solve long-term readiness and modernization needs of the M109 family of vehicles through a critical redesign and production plan that leverages the most advanced technology available today. This state-of-the-art “digital backbone” and power generation capability provides a more robust, survivable and responsive indirect fire support capability for ABCT Soldiers.
The M109A7 is considered to be the most cost-effective method to significantly improve sustainability and survivability, while reducing the logistics burden on the ABCT and supporting fires brigades. The program will be executed as a public/private partnership between the Army’s Project Manager-HBCT, Anniston Army Depot and BAE Systems that leverages the strengths of both public and private sectors to ensure the best value for U.S. Soldiers.
Electronic Warfare R&D: Defense Electronics Innovation
BAE Systems
Military actions today depend on effective use of the electromagnetic spectrum to surveil and assess the battlespace, to protect friendly forces and equipment, and to attack the enemy. That is today's Electronic Warfare (EW), and maintaining a technological advantage across the electromagnetic spectrum can mean the difference between whether or not you complete your missions and bring your forces home.

Bradley A4 ECP
BAE Systems
The Bradley A4 features the latest digitized electronics for optimum situational awareness, network connectivity and communication within the Armored Brigade Combat Team. The Bradley A4’s proven durability and commonality of design reduce the logistics burden, while enhancing battlefield performance to meet a variety of mission requirements in close- combat, urban scenarios and open-combat situations.
Survivability – Improvements to the Fire Suppression and IED jammer components further enhance survivability by reducing the likelihood of system detectability and target acquisition by external systems and defeats external threats.
Mobility – System is capable of maximizing its acceleration capabilities due to the increased engine horsepower in order to provide rapid movement of the System in reaction to combat or other adverse situations. Enhanced mobility function provides driver with improved situational awareness and mobility functionality status. Lethality – Leveraging the lethality functionality from its predecessor, the Bradley A4 consists of full ballistic fire control hosted on a new central processing unit, aided dual-target tracking, automatic gun target adjustment, automatic bore sighting and hunter-killer capabilities. The Bushmaster 25mm cannon fires both explosive and armor piercing rounds, while TOW missiles defeat enemy armor. The 7.62mm coaxial machine gun provides high volume fires at close ranges.
Networkability – Integration of improved computing system assets allows housing of more robust software applications in order to provide improved near real-time networking situational awareness to soldiers on both platform variants.
Supportability – Improvements to on-board diagnostics systems provide increased fault detection and isolation capabilities and added interactive electronic manuals enhance maintenance capability.

Multi-Int Signal Processing R&D
BAE Systems
In harsh theaters of battle and other challenging environments, electronic sensors that decision-makers depend on for signals intelligence can fail, be blocked, or may not be present. That can leave forces unable to detect threats, protect assets, or see and evaluate opportunities to advance the mission.
AN/ASN-157 Doppler Navigation Set
BAE Systems
The ASN-157 was developed to meet the ongoing need for helicopters with reduced size and weight avionics. The ASN-157 system has an accuracy of 0.15 percent of total velocity, weighs less than 13 lbs., consists of one line-replaceable unit, and has a predicted mean time between failure of over 7,300 hours.

Cyber Technology R&D
BAE Systems
Just as cyber attacks threaten businesses, individuals, and IoT systems, cyber warfare against military operations and government agencies continue to escalate. The real world outcomes are potentially devastating.
Doppler Radars for Helicopter Navigation
BAE Systems
To complete their missions successfully in hostile territory, helicopters must have accurate, jam-resistant navigation systems that are able to operate effectively and dependably in all mission scenarios. These conditions may require high-speed, low-level flight over featureless, unknown terrain, and in the presence of enemy jamming.
Cyber Resilience Platform Intrusion Detection
BAE Systems
Given the risks to U.S. armed forces personnel and other assets, shielding defense community computers, comm systems, and electronic platforms with outdated "Defense in Depth" cyber security is less than optimal. Today, state-sponsored and other cyber attacks can often bypass traditional security defenses, remain undetected for weeks or months, and be hard to track once noticed.
