Description
Aloe Vera is a short-stemmed plant growing typically between 2-3 feet tall. It is native to the south-west Arabian Peninsula but has been naturalized in various areas around the world including North Africa and Spain. It’s
unique in that it forms arbuscular mycorrhiza, a symbiosis process that allows it gather mineral nutrients out of the soil in addition to growing in areas with little rainfall. Aloe Vera plants also contain phytochemicals which protect itself from predators, competitors or pathogens.
The leaves are green to a grayish green in color and short-stemmed shrub with white specks on the upper portion of it’s leaf and the lower portion is serrated and has small white teeth. The Aloe Vera provides two
substances for use, a clear gel and the yellow latex.
