Simulator Technology Insertion
CymSTAR
In addition to upgrading ATS technology through obsolescence upgrades, CymSTAR seeks opportunities to provide the warfighter with the most advanced and realistic training.
CymSTAR continues to expand our training devices to incorporate augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) technologies and to develop virtual and containerized solutions to enable continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
For classroom training, CymSTAR has developed interactive multimedia instruction (IMI) courses that use large format touchscreens and detailed graphical user interfaces (GUIs) to allow students to see details that cannot be captured using physical inspection alone.
CymHOST
CymSTAR
CymSTAR’s real-time simulation executive framework, CymHOST, and its accompanying utilities are deployed on multiple training devices within the U.S. DOD inventory. CymHOST is designed to run on an open-source Linux operating system with a real-time Linux kernel.
Our Host Computer solution offers utilities for real-time debugging, hardware calibrations, configuration management, simulator operation and several other product enhancement tools.

Courseware
CymSTAR
We possess strong courseware development/update capabilities based on our experience as the current C-5 ATS and former C-130J Maintenance and Aircrew Training System (MATS) prime contractor.
CymSTAR employs instructional system development (ISD) principles to optimize courseware effectiveness. We applied lessons learned from the C-130J MATS (courseware, instruction and training management systems) and employed similar processes in our work on the C-5 ATS contract to improve the C-5 courseware baseline.
Experiences from our C-130J MATS and C-5 ATS contracts have proven applicable to the maintenance and update of courseware on our E-4B training center contract (detailed in Program Successes below).
ISD methodology, combined with the latest learning technologies, SME buy-in and end-user feedback, enable us to tailor courseware effectively. Our process also addresses the life cycle sustainment of computer-based training products used in parallel with the training systems.
CymLITE-MCS
CymSTAR
CymSTAR proudly presents the CymLITE Series training system, featuring Mission Combat Simulator (MCS) software, in partnership with ED Mission Systems. We excel in the rapid and cost-effective tailoring of CymLITE-MCS to meet specific customer requirements. This system delivers realistic training experiences across various military fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, engaging in dynamic mission rehearsal scenarios.
CymIO
CymSTAR
CymSTAR’s real-time I/O system, CymIO, delivers a robust interface between CymHOST and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) I/O products from industry suppliers. CymIO allows the configuration of the analog and the discrete I/O required by each unique trainer into which it is integrated. CymIO is open source and built to be modular.
Simulator Obsolescence Upgrades
CymSTAR
CymSTAR follows sound obsolescence mitigation plans to forecast and analyze potential Diminishing Manufacturing Sources/Material Shortages (DMS/MS) with ATS hardware, firmware and software.
If a forecasted item adversely impacts reliability, availability or maintainability, we propose alternate solutions for obsolete items through an Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) to determine suitable replacements.
CymSTAR then suggests and implements our technical solution to trainer devices or ATS documentation. Obsolescence mitigation approaches include conducting “lifetime buys,” finding alternate suppliers and modifying the product baseline with an approved modification.
We also select and procure parts, components and materials compatible with current ATS baselines that offer the same or improved life cycle cost benefits or compliance.
CymLITE-DART
CymSTAR
DART sets a new standard for aircraft modeling fidelity. This new trainer enhances the pilot’s air refueling proficiency in navigating through turbulence, visual navigation, communication, formation flying, emergencies, safety, systems and teamwork.
Instruction
CymSTAR
The instructional personnel of CymSTAR are present at every ATD facility, with a significant portion of the teaching taking place at the schoolhouse situated on the platform's premises. The instructors are responsible for providing preliminary and recurrent training at the primary location, while they usually administer refresher training at secondary sites.
CymLITE-Series
CymSTAR
CymSTAR's CymLITE Series offers cost-effective aircrew and mission trainers to learn, practice, and master procedures, understanding flight dynamics and realistic system behaviors before transitioning to full-flight simulators or aircraft operations. These lightweight trainers ensure readiness and proficiency virtually anywhere, anytime, setting a new standard for accessible, high-quality training.
CymDIS
CymSTAR
CymSTAR’s Distributed Missions software, CymDIS, is an application for publishing and processing protocol data units (PDUs) in compliance with the latest Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization (SISO) distributed interactive simulation (DIS) standard.
Dead reckoning algorithms and position/orientation smoothing calculations within CymDIS ensure the spatial representation of other simulators in a mission are visually realistic. Radio communications protocols are also integrated into CymDIS.

Contractor Logistics Support (CLS)
CymSTAR
Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) plays a crucial role in the sustainability of ATS (Advanced Training Systems). CLS typically consists of a simulator technician and logistics staff who handle scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks. Additionally, CLS oversees the mitigation of trainer obsolescence to ensure the smooth functioning of the training systems.
CymTEST
CymSTAR
CymSTAR’s real-time automated test suite, CymTEST, allows device maintainers to validate simulator performance versus aircraft data to meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and military standards.
CymTEST runs Qualification Test Guide (QTG) validation tests in real-time and captures the results for offline reporting. CymTEST tools convert flight test data, edit validation test parameters and produce an electronic QTG.
CymLITE-MST (Mission Systems Trainer)
CymSTAR
The CymLITE-Mission Systems Trainer (MST) is an immersive training system engineered with state-of-the-art technology, certified aircraft models, and simulations designed to provide students with an unparalleled experience. It allows them to learn, practice, and master procedures before transitioning to full-flight simulators or aircraft operations.
Simulator Concurrency Upgrades
CymSTAR
CymSTAR’s approach for maintaining ATS concurrency with aircraft includes acquiring data that describes proposed and contracted changes to the aircraft.
CymSTAR leadership participates in aircraft Configuration Review Boards (CRB) and continually interfaces with aerospace and avionics manufacturers, vendors, subcontractors, and Defense personnel to gain insight into future aircraft changes.
Our team performs front-end analyses to identify and determine the technical and cost impacts an identified aircraft change will have on training systems. We aim to update affected trainers 30 to 60 days before the first modified aircraft arrives.
