Description
Embraer and Rheinmetall have begun discussions on opening a C-390 medium transport aircraft training centre in Europe to meet the needs of a growing number of users.
The two companies will evaluate the training requirements of C-390 European customers and the possibility of a dedicated training centre in the region to meet the needs of existing and future operators.
Currently initial training for Portuguese and Hungarian C-390 crews takes place in São Paulo in Brazil where local air force personnel also train using a Full Flight and Mission Simulator (FFMS) and a Loadmaster Training Station.

Under their agreement, Embraer and Rheinmetall will analyse ways of conducting training in Europe for pilots, loadmasters, mechanics and additional crew members.
The Portuguese Air Force has purchased an FFMS as part of its C-390 contract with Embraer, which will be installed at Beja Air Base, and the Royal Netherlands Air Force is also planning to have its own FFMS in-country.The discussions will look at enhancing these two planned European facilities.
In October last year, the Czech MoD and armed forces announced they had started negotiations on the potential acquisition of two C-390s and the September before Austria's Defence Minister Klaudia Tanner said the country plans to replace its retiring C-130 Hercules fleet with four C-390s.
The two companies will evaluate the training requirements of C-390 European customers and the possibility of a dedicated training centre in the region to meet the needs of existing and future operators.
