Ceramic Pour Cups, Covers, Vent Plugs, Support Rods
Metsch Refractories Inc
Ceramic pouring and filtering cups are used for investment casting technology. They are made of high quality ceramic materials and pressed at high pressure. They are fit for casting ferrous as well as non-ferrous metals and to withstand the most demanding conditions within superalloys casting for medical implant, IGT and aircraft industries.
Metsch mold support rods are engineered to provide architectural support of the wax assembly during the shell investing process and of the shell itself during de-wax and mold pre-heating.
Metsch vent plugs are hard ceramic products used to plug wax vent holes molded on complex wax pattern assemblies to assist with the de-wax of the mold.

Vent Plugs
Metsch Refractories Inc
Metsch vent plugs are hard ceramic products used to plug wax vent holes molded on complex wax pattern assemblies to assist with the de-wax of the mold. Metsch vent plugs are designed with tapered sides to prevent pushing the plug through the vent hole into the de-waxed mold. All Metsch vent plugs have radius on edges to avoid emitting ceramic inclusions into the pour. The Metsch vent plug product line includes 3 sizes: small, medium and large. Thousand Series line of vent plugs is available without a tooling charge. Custom vent plug shapes can be designed and molded to form fit to your wax vent shape.
Mold Support Rods
Metsch Refractories Inc
Extruded of high grade mullite or high purity alumina (for higher operating temperature capability), Metsch mold support rods are thermally compatible with most shell systems and all Metsch pouring cup materials to avoid cracking of the shell or pouring cup due to a thermal expansion mis-match.
With it’s Thousand Series line of standard mold support rod products, Metsch makes various profile shapes available without a tooling Charge: Round, Half-Round, Square and Rectangle. Each profile profile shape is available in multiple profile sizes.
All Metsch mold support rods are cut to length in the “green” state before firing to provide a clean end cut and to avoid micro-fractured ends due to “snapping” to length or post-firing cutting. Custom profile shapes and sizes can be quoted upon request.

Ceramic Pouring Cups
Metsch Refractories Inc
Metsch pour cups are produced from high grade mullite-hybrid compositions tested and qualified by aerospace sector foundries for over 50 years. Designed for in-service durability. All features contribute to improving casting yields by assisting the foundry to protect the mold during handling throughout the process and by avoiding inclusions during the pour. Metsch offers both a standard line of pouring cup products, the Thousand Series, as well as custom design manufacture for unique customer requirements.
