The GFAC Simulator is designed to train ground forces responsible for providing precise guidance to Close Air Support (CAS) aircraft during military operations. These personnel play a vital role in ensuring air strikes accurately hit intended targets while avoiding friendly fire and minimizing collateral damage.
The Laser Target Designator (LTD) Simulator supports this mission by replicating a binocular laser-based system used to mark and designate targets. It combines range-finding and geolocation capabilities with a coded laser beam (PRF) that enables aircraft crews to visually acquire marked targets. This tool enhances the realism and precision of GFAC training, especially in high-risk scenarios that are difficult or unsafe to reproduce in live exercises.
