SkyGuardian is designed to fly over the horizon via satellite for up

FQ-42A Collaborative Combat Aircraft
FQ-42A CCA is an uncrewed fighter jet developed for semi-autonomous air-to-air operation. It's designed to fly alongside fifth and sixth-generation aircraft and integrate with crewed fighters to extend reach, awareness and survivability in contested environments. The U.S. Air Force has awarded GA-ASI production contracts for FQ-42A for CCA Increment 1, dropping the "Y" prototype designation for forthcoming aircraft.
GA-ASI was selected in 2024 to build production-representative YFQ-42A aircraft under the USAF CCA program. The CCA flew for the first time in August 2025, going from concept to flight in just 15 months!

GA-ASI Completes MQ-9B 'Flight Into Known Icing' Flight Tests
SAN DIEGO – 20 April 2026 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) has conducted a series of flight tests aimed at certifying the MQ-9B Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) for Flight Into Known Icing (FIKI). The flight tests began last year, and all planned testing was successfully completed in early April from GA-ASI’s Flight Test & Training Center (FTTC) near Grand Forks, North Dakota, using a company-owned MQ-9B.

GA-ASI Completes First Flight of MQ-9B With AEW Pods
SAN DIEGO – 21 May 2026 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) flew its MQ-9B Remotely Piloted Aircraft for the first time with Airborne Early Warning (AEW) pods. The much-anticipated AEW capability is being provided through a partnership with Saab. Once the AEW sensor, named LoyalEye, is made available to MQ-9B operators and new customers, it will deliver persistent and cost-effective air surveillance capabilities in regions where it is currently unavailable.

GA-ASI and INTEC Group Sign MOU at ILA Berlin
BERLIN – 11 June 2026 – Today at the ILA Berlin Air Show, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and the INTEC Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for INTEC to support the architecture and integration of mission systems, entry into service and logistic support services for GA-ASI’s Gambit Series of Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA). GA-ASI Adapts Ground Control Station To Fly MQ-9B
SAN DIEGO – 25 June 2026 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is working to adapt its Block 30 Ground Control Stations (GCS) to fly the company’s newer model MQ-9B SkyGuardian® and SeaGuardian® Remotely Piloted Aircraft. When these upgrades are complete, they will enable current users of the Block 30 system, originally designed to fly the MQ-9A Reaper®, to keep that equipment and use it to operate the more capable aircraft.

U.S Air Force Awards GA-ASI Production Contract for FQ-42A CCA
SAN DIEGO – 17 June 2026 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) has received a production contract from the U.S. Air Force (USAF) for the FQ-42A Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA). The initial order is a significant milestone, beginning the delivery of production aircraft to the warfighter. GA-ASI designed, developed and flight-tested FQ-42A on an accelerated schedule unlike any fighter in recent history.
