The defect is contained once the fitting is fully torqued on the line. For onshore applications, the fitting can be welded to the pipeline while it is under flow, making it a permanent repair. Fittings not welded to the line can be removed, reconditioned by PLIDCO®, and put back in the customer’s safety stock (some restrictions may apply). Fittings are tested to 1.5 times the design pressure. Steel GirderRings prevent displacement and damage of packing during installation. Standard working pressures are 1000, 1500, and 2220 PSI maximum allowable operating pressures (MAOP). Higher working pressures and
various lengths are available. Custom emergency repair fittings are an option when a stock fitting is not applicable. PLIDCO® maintains a full inventory of fittings that are compatible for use in hydrogen pipelines. The hydraulic power unit requires three (3) phase 460 volts AC. The motor can be requested for 230/220 volts but 460 provides better performance. The hydraulic hoses to the cylinder can be lengthened to 50 feet without affecting cylinder operation, but the five (5) control hoses should remain at 25 feet as longer hoses will adversely affect cylinder reaction time. The top connections are for the control hoses, those on the side are for cylinder hoses. Electrical is connected through the top of the control box. The connections and control switch should be easy to reach. The fluid temperature gauge and filter condition indicator is on the opposite side and will need to be seen and serviced. Mount the power unit (step #2) securely by either bolting or welding it to the rig floor. The unit requires ventilation and secure routing of the five (5) control hoses and two (2) cylinder hoses.

The control box should be mounted where 1) it’s convenient to the driller and 2) the 25-foot control hoses will reach. Connect A on the control box to the A on the hydraulic power unit, B to B, etc.

Corrosion Protection for boilers, pressure vessels, heat exchangers and other process plant equipment is a difficult task as dry removable protection is required without impacting the heat or thermal transfer properties of the equipment and yet need to protect hollow spaces from the wrath of corrosion. Also the VCI Powder should be easily removable when this equipment is brought in operation without any mechanical cleaning. Preserving these hollow components is achieved by spraying or fogging with VCI powder using air spray or compressed air or by pouring and rolling the powder. This can also be used for hydro testing and aqueous coating by dissolving at 2-5% in water.

The vapor corrosion inhibitor powder evaporates slowly and drifts into hard to reach areas within the component. As much as possible, it is important to form a sealed, airtight entity. The VCI Crystalline Powder conforms to MIL-I-22110 specifications. The Powder is free from Silica. It is also available in Special Fogging Bucket, which is convenient to use by just attaching a blower or compressed air pipe. This makes handling the powder much easier where it does not come in contact with the user and is not breathed in during handling. The Chemistry is based on amine carboxylates, amine benzoates, or amine oleates with additional components as necessary. Nitrite is not used. The Product is tested as per NACE TM0208-2008 and shall provide Grade3 or Grade 4 performance.

The product is nitrite free and protects carbon steel, Alloy steel, Stainless steel.

Ring Type Joint Gaskets (RTJs)

A Ring Type Joint (RTJ) gasket is a precision-machined metallic ring used for metal-to-metal sealing applications in high-pressure, high-temperature flange connections. As torque is applied, the gasket plastically deforms to fill the flange groove, ensuring a reliable, leak-tight seal. Because of their ability to maintain integrity under extreme loads, RTJ gaskets are widely used in oil, gas, petrochemical, and industrial systems where failure is not an option.

Keep reading to learn about different types of RTJ gaskets available from HTX Products, common materials used to manufacture them, and examples of oil and gas applications that rely on them.

R-Type: Oval And Octagonal

The R-Type is the most common RTJ gasket, available in oval and octagonal cross-sections. Because these gaskets seal by deforming under pressure, they must be made from material softer than the corresponding mating flange. The oval design is compatible with bottom radius grooves, while the octagonal shape has a higher sealing coefficient. R-Type gaskets are rated up to 10,000 psi and manufactured in accordance with ASME B16.20 and API 6A. They are a dependable choice for general refinery, chemical, and pipeline service.

RX-Type

RX-Type RTJs feature a pressure-energized design that enhances the seal as internal pressure increases. This makes them ideal for systems subject to vibration or fluctuating pressure. They are interchangeable with R-Type flanges and are suitable for pressures from 1000 bar. These gaskets are well-suited to high pressures, heavy weight loads and vibration in blowout preventer (BOP) stacks.

SBX-Type And BX-Type

BX-Type and SBX-Type RTJs are used exclusively with 6BX flanges and 16BX hubs. Their trapezoidal geometry and pressure-balancing holes allow them to withstand extreme operating conditions up to 20,000 psi. These gaskets are commonly used in critical oilfield components, such as blowout preventers, choke and kill manifolds, and subsea wellhead systems.

The SBX profile incorporates modified angles and sealing geometry to improve load distribution and gasket compression under pressure. They also feature intersecting vent holes that facilitate seal formation underwater. Type Gaskets are made from non-corrosive material, in compliance with API 17D.

Kammprofile Gaskets

These gaskets combine a precision-machined serrated metal core with a soft facing material (i.e., expanded graphite, mica, PTFE). They create a high-integrity seal at comparatively low bolt loads and are frequently used in heat exchangers.

Lens Rings

Featuring spherical seating surfaces, lens rings naturally self-align under compression. They are mechanically stable and resist blow-out in high temperature and high pressure applications like heat exchangers, reactor vessels, and petrochemical operations.

Rubber-Coated RTJs

These gaskets feature a machined steel core with an oil-resistant nitrile coating that protects flange surfaces. They are often used for pressure testing of blowout preventers (BOPs), Christmas tree valves, and other wellhead components.

RUST-X VCI Plastics works on SMP technology for speedy moisture passivation.The VCI molecules work by evaporation and condensation on the cooler metal parts and prevent corrosion wherever they settle. In effect a corrosion inhibiting layer comprising of macromolecules is deposited on the part. This molecular film formed inhibits the forward reaction of corrosion by limiting/stopping the electron flow, altering pH as well as by forming a physical barrier to oxygen and water vapor.

Non-aqueous drilling fluids (NADF) leave an oil-wet residue on the formation that prevents cement from bonding. Spacers are often used to clean the formation surface before a cementing operation begins. Evaluating a spacer’s ability to convert an oil-wet surface to water wet is necessary to ensure proper cement bonding.

The Advanced Digital Wettability Tester uses electrical resistance to determine the effects of adding water-wet spacers to oil-wet NADF. An overhead mixing blade stirs the fluid while electrodes measure resistance and temperature. As spacer is added, the change in resistance is graphed and recorded. This allows the user to compare the effectiveness of different spacers with different NADF.

Hydraulic Power Units (Electric & Air Start)

On the power unit, an electric motor drives a dual stage pump at a setting of 1500 rpm (50 hertz (hz) or 1800 rpm (60 hz). The pump draws hydraulic fluid from the tank and delivers hydraulic fluid up to 2500 psi on the pressure line, adjustable at the unloader valve (preset at 1000 psi). The pump delivers 66 GPM at 50 hz and 79.5 GPM at 60 hz. As the line pressure decreases to 1000 psi, volume decreases to 31 or 37.5 GPM (depending on frequency). The higher volume stage of the pump is literally “unloaded” at 1000 psi, simply transferring its volume from the tank directly back to the tank through the return full flow filter with only a few psi pressure. The lower volume state of the pump is always supplying fluid to either the output disconnect or the relief valve at system pressure. The relief valve has a maximum (factory) setting of 2500 psi. The 2500 psi setting is the maximum recommended output pressure for the standard pump. Theoretically the unit could produce 2971 psi at full motor rated output, but pump life will be shortened, possibly dramatically.

The ILA1‑X000‑EX In‑situ Laser Analyzer consists of a probe with an integrated measuring section. This comprises a transmitter, a reflector, a receiver, a connection flange and a sensor head. A separate HMI unit is also available as an option. The transmitter and receiver are located in the sensor head of the ILA1, while the beam reflector is fitted in the measuring section at the tip of the probe. A laser beam emanates from the sensor head and penetrates the process gas. The reflector at the end of the measuring section reflects the beam back to the receiver in the sensor head. An integrated system for continuous device flushing with nitrogen (N2) or compressed air prevents dust and other contaminants from coming into contact with the reflector and the other optical components. The laser measurement system has a modular design and can be configured for a wide variety of measurement tasks. Thanks to the choice of materials (e.g. stainless steels such as 904L, 321H or nickel‑based alloys) and the option of thermal decoupling, the system can be used both in corrosive gases and at very high temperatures (up to 900 °C [1652 °F]). Thanks to its measuring method, the ILA1 Laser Analyzer is very reliable and designed for short response times. It can be used for a variety of gases in industrial and chemical processes and does not require sampling and sample preparation. It therefore helps to minimize downtimes and increase process reliability at low operating costs. In summary, the ILA1‑X000‑EX is an optimal analyzer for real‑time measurements with very high precision, maximum reliability and minimum maintenance.
